Due to the difference in diameter in the width of the bars that limit the fat grooves, the bullets can easily be placed in the barrel up to the upper bar. From here it is a little harder to load at the beginning and a bullet starter should be used. Since the bullets are cast from pure soft lead, this is not a problem. Once the top ring has cut into the fields and trains, you can continue loading as usual down to the bottom. The advantage of this bullet, which is slightly wider for a .45 caliber, is that the fields and rifling actually cut into each other excellently and give the bullet a hammer-like guidance, see the bullet on the right in the photo. Here it was loaded into an Investarms Great Plains Rifle.
These bullets leave holes on the discs, similar to a wadcutter bullet, i.e. circular, as if punched and not frayed like round bullets. Of course these bullets are also allowed in competitions!!
These bullets are ideal for most .45 caliber muzzleloading long guns. Maxi-Balls do not need to be calibrated because the rings of the bullet cut into the fields of the barrel and are therefore optimally guided.
Please note the dimensions of the bullets so that they also fit the intended barrel!
It's no fun sending bullets back and forth just because the dimensions weren't taken into account.
Das richtige Geschoss finden
Das Zugmaß gibt den Abstand zweier gegenüberliegender Züge zu einander an.
Das Zugmaß ist immer größer als das Feldmaß.
Das Feldmaß ist seinerseits geringfügig enger als das Maß des Kalibers, also des tatsächlichen Geschossdurchmessers.
Langgeschoss
Das ideale Geschossmaß für Langgeschosse liegt zwischen dem Feld- und dem Zugmaß. Es sollte jedoch immer kleiner und nie gleich dem Zugmaß sein.
Minie
Minié-Geschosse sollen sich leicht saugend laden lassen.Das Idealmaß ist 0,02 mm bis 0,05 mm kleiner als das Feldmaß.Da sich der Hohlboden bei der Explosion verdrückt und ausstültpt wird das Geschoss trotzdem sauber durch die Felder und Züge geführt.
Maxi-Ball
Maxi-Balls sind ähnlich zu behandeln wie Langgeschosse. Das ideale Geschossmaß liegt zwischen dem Feld- und dem Zugmaß.Auch hier sollte der Geschossdurchmesser jedoch nie gleich dem Zugmaß sein.
Bleikugel
Da Rundkugeln mit einem Pflasterpatch geschossen werden, ist hier die Ermittlung etwas komplexer.Die doppelte Pflasterstärke plus der Kugeldurchmesser erbibt das Zugmaß.Beispiel: Pflasterstärke 0,2 mmZugmaß: 11,40 mm→ Die Kugel sollte 11,00 mm im Durchmesser haben.
